Currently, companies do not have enough culturally agile professionals in their pipeline who can successfully navigate the intense global competitive demands facing their organizations. I’ve worked with leaders from many global organizations who, without hesitation, can easily identify their global stars, those with the greatest levels of cultural agility. They lament, with equal speed, the need for a greater number of professionals with cultural agility.
If you possess cultural agility and needed technical skills, you are (and will be) in high demand.
What is cultural agility? Health and fitness experts would describe human “agility” as the ability to change the position of one’s body rapidly and accurately without losing balance. Culturally agile people are able to accurately assess the differences in behaviors, attitudes, and values between themselves and others and know how and when to appropriately use cultural knowledge and behaviors, without losing balance (so to speak). Cultural agility is an ability to move quickly, comfortably and successfully from one cultural context to another. Cultural agility is the competence that helps professionals succeed in multicultural environments by enabling them to vary their behaviors to the needs and demands of the cultural environment.
Do you have cultural agility? Take the (free) Cultural Agility Self-Assessment tool (CASA) to find out.
The 20-minute CASA tool will give you critical insight on three important components of cultural agility: personality characteristics, multicultural experiences, and cultural orientations. After each of these three sections, you will receive an interpretation of your results and tailored guidance on to develop your cultural agility further.
The CASA is quick and easy to complete and filled with insightful recommendations. To access the CASA:
