Dating in midlife isn't easy. In the age of dating apps and social media, dating culture has completely changed. It's particularly difficult for people coming from broken relationships, divorces, or the loss of partners to connect with new people. In Dating (Again), behavioral scientist Paula Caligiuri, PhD, draws on her experience of going on more than 60 first dates, as well as her research, to present a science-backed guide for people seeking a second chance at love. The modern dating landscape is filled with vocabulary like ghosting, orbiting, love bombing, situationships, etc. Dr. Caligiuri also cautions readers about the plague of romance scammers in this technological era. Inside, you will find tips to get out of your comfort zone, overcome your fear of rejection, understand your attachment style, identify your relationship readiness, recognize your blind spots, and more.
This is a comprehensive, must-have guide for middle-aged people who are tired of trying to adapt to contemporary dating paradigms. Dr. Paula Caligiuri offers a step-by-step, in-depth study of all facets of modern dating, its pros and cons, and everything in between. For single people looking to dive into a new relationship, this book offers tools to navigate the distinct challenges of dating after spending a significant amount of time in a committed relationship. I really liked how Dr. Caligiuri presents her insights, using personal stories and examples to make sure readers understand everything that's discussed in the pages. The author's observations are rooted in human psychology and social science. I think that lends a lot of credence to her analysis. Personally, if I were looking to start dating again, I have no doubt I would have found Dating (Again) really helpful. As it is, I found it very informative and motivational. Highly recommended.
